Cosmetic Surgery Trends: Facial Fillers
The FDA have approved Dysport for the US aesthetic market. Dysport is similar to Botox in that it is derived from the botulinium toxin. However it is claimed that Dysport is superior to Botox in that it acts more quickly to reduce and remove wrinkles and the toxin does not spread to other parts of the body other than the injection side, minimising risk.
Dysport has been co-developed by Ipsen SA and the Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation. Medicis are already well known in the cosmetic surgery and aesthetic market thanks to their Restylane and Perlane facial fillers.
Dysport should be available in America in the next one to two months and it is anticipated that the injections will be slightly cheaper than Botox. It is also claimed that Dysport required fewer injections with longer lasting results.
It is anticipated that Dysport will soon become more popular than Botox thanks to it’s cheaper price, longer lasting results and fewer side effects.
